SDGs-UV: Sustainable Development Goals in the Light of the Unifying Vision

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a widely recognised framework for addressing major challenges of human development and sustainability. The 17 goals cover important dimensions of human and social well-being, economic development and the environment. However, these goals are often approached as separate areas of action.

The Unifying Vision offers another way of looking at sustainability. It emerges from an understanding of the interconnectedness and coexistence of human beings, society, development and nature. From this perspective, different dimensions of development are not isolated; they are interconnected and mutually influencing. Sustainable development therefore requires understanding these relationships rather than addressing individual problems in isolation.

This perspective has led to the development of SDGs-UV — Sustainable Development Goals in the Light of the Unifying Vision. The framework revisits the 17 SDGs through the perspective of interconnectedness, coexistence, mutual responsibility and mutual fulfilment.

The purpose is not simply to rename the goals. The SDGs-UV framework seeks to understand the deeper relationships among them and view the 17 goals as interconnected expressions of a larger aspiration for human fulfilment and ecological harmony.
